Frequently Asked Questions
Notes:
If measurements are provided to the nearest 5mm (i.e. All sizes will end in a 0 or 5), we can supply fully assembled panels cut to size and ready to install. But please remember, we have to rely on your measurements and will cut to the sizes given. We cannot be held responsible for any measuring errors! Really smart people send digital pictures via e-mail of the windows under consideration. It’s then possible to talk through the options and arrive at a solution.
For any further advice and assistance call our telephone number 0800 999 3349. By special request we can arrange to send a material sample piece to any enthusiastic potential customer.
We design a layout so that openers are covered by separate panels. These can be easily lifted off and “parked” on top of an adjacent panel by means of extra steel strips on the sides of an adjacent panel. So you won’t have a loose panel to worry about while the window is open.
Most people do not think in decibels! But Magneglaze® will have the effect of “muffling” or “baffling” those annoying tyre noises. In extreme cases, it is possible to add a panel to the edge of the reveal to create the optimum gap of 200mm for sound reduction.
No, most of the time the panels will be in place, so only rough handling will cause any obvious defects. Panels can be easily lifted off for cleaning. If they are to be removed and stored away during the summer months, it’s best to sleeve or cover them in bubble-wrap. We recommend the use of an antistatic spray polish to keep them in sparkling condition.
U Values indicate the rate of heat flow across a material – the lower the value, the better the insulation.
Single glazing has a typical U Value of 6 w/m²k.
Based on scientific evidence the Magneglaze secondary glazing system is able to achieve a U value of 2.28w/m²k.
A lot of people choose to do this but we would recommend removing panels on any south facing windows during the summer months. Store in the original packaging in an upright position. Temperature in the cavity can rise to 50C which is not good for the Acrylic or the TESA adhesive.
Yes, always available on request. Check out our reviews on Feefo as well.
Currently, we are working to a lead time of more than 20 working days, due to the large volumes of orders we receive in the winter months. At other times of year, lead times can be considerably shorter.
When your order is ready to despatch, we will contact you, usually by phone, to arrange a convenient day.
Please be aware that we supply a bespoke, made to measure product, manufactured uniquely for you. It holds no potential value for anyone else and cannot be re-sold. Therefore, the panels will become redundant, are not collected for re-cycling, and have to be disposed of by you. If there are any issues resulting from mishandling and damage during transit, or a defective finish, please let us know immediately. Photographic evidence is very useful and helps us to improve the quality of our service. We will always replace any defective panel(s), free of charge. Magneglaze cannot be held responsible for any measuring errors.
All orders are acknowledged on the day of receipt, after payment. They are then sent for manufacture for the next working day (outside of weekends and bank holidays). Outside of this timescale, we are committed to your order, and the production procedure has started. If there any any revisions, we have the facility to change dimensions during the 1 day period.
It depends on your window type. For casement windows, no modifications are usually required. If your window furniture protrudes to the point where your Magneglaze panels cannot sit flush to the window, you may need to replace your window furniture.
For sash, crittall and stone-mullioned windows, you will need to make some alterations to the window frame – please phone for advice before ordering.
Our panels can be supplied either with white or charcoal edges. We recommend ordering white for light coloured windows and charcoal for dark coloured windows.
But an important point to note is that the edges can be overpainted to match any window colour.
